With regard to the special exhibition and Mission E's important part in it, Porsche said in its recent announcement that "the special exhibition will be accompanied by interactive experiences", including an augmented reality (AR) application for the Mission E. Unlike a horse, the vehicle won't run on hay. Long live the Taycan. We'll re-visit the Mission E's specs shortly, but for now you should know that Porsche's upcoming EV will not, in fact, be called the Mission E when it becomes available for purchase in 2019. Pronounced "tie-kahn", Porsche says the name roughly translates as "lively young horse", as in the one on Porsche's crest, a crest that's remained unchanged since 1952. It's also somewhat consistent with the company's usual naming conventions, which it describe as having "a concrete connection with the corresponding model and its characteristics"-though there's rarely consistency in what those characteristics actually are".

About Porsche Cars North America, Inc. The electric sedan will have more than 600 horsepower from its two "permanently excited" synchronous electric motors. This will enable the auto to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in less than 12 seconds.

In terms of range, the target is for the Porsche Taycan cover upwards of 300 miles on a single charge and Porsche says the 800-volt system can take on 62 miles of charge in just 4 minutes - assuming you have access to the necessary high powered charging facilities.

Now, sit back and watch as the Porsche fanatics debate the new name. Raw acceleration and speed are certainly impressive metrics, but overall range is a much more important metric when we're talking about electric cars.

Future investment doubled Porsche plans to invest more than six billion euro in electromobility by 2022, doubling the expenditure that the company had originally planned.

New electric vehicle startups including SF Motors, Lucid Motors, Fisker and others are planning to release their own luxury electric models.
