Trump lawyer not ruling out other payments
Giuliani was the source of much confusion last week, beginning with a Wednesday night appearance on Fox News' Hannity. If the two teams are unable to come to an agreement and Trump is subpoenaed for an interview, Giuliani told CBS that he will fight the subpoena.
Then on Saturday, Giuliani caused another stir when he spoke to a group that supports the overthrow of Iran's government and said that the president was "committed" to regime change in Iran.
Additionally, Trump has grown agitated in recent days by replays of Giuliani's interview with Sean Hannity, in which he said that Trump knew about the payment but that it wasn't a campaign violation.
Speaking to ABC's This Week, Giuliani was asked if Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen had made other payments of the kind to Daniels, who has claimed to have had an affair with Trump in 2006.
Giuliani's comments - that Trump paid lawyer Michael Cohen back for the big Daniels payday - set off a firestorm that hasn't cooled. He did not rule out the possibility that Cohen had paid off other women. "He's very comfortable with the strategy we're pursuing".
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that while she hasn't spoken to Trump "specifically about his feelings" on Giuliani's job performance, she gets the impression that the Giuliani hire is viewed as "added value".
Ever since he began to represent Trump as part of the ongoing probe into Russia, Giuliani has attracted a wave of controversy and shock announcements.
CNN reported that Trump was particularly irked by Giuliani's refusal to rule out that Trump would plead the Fifth in the special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.
This earned Giuliani a public admonishment from President Trump, who said that Giuliani was a new addition to his team and that Giuliani would have to learn how to "get his facts straight". He also suggested the October 2016 settlement had been made because Trump was in the stretch run of his presidential campaign.
