Commonwealth Games 2018: BBC presenter falls in pool during interview

BBC Breakfast presenter falls into swimming pool during live interview

BBC presenter Mike Bushell fell into a swimming pool during a live TV interview, and it's the funniest thing we've seen all week.

Try though they might, the swimmers, who included Adam Peaty and Siobhan Marie O'Connor, couldn't contain their laughter at the gaffe. Although, much to the credit of the BBC reporter, he managed to take the blooper in his stride and continued in his efforts to interview the swimmers, this time sticking close to the edge.

"Now I've got to be very careful because I have a sound pack on", he said, edging towards the water.

The incident occurred when the journalist tried to approach each of the athletes sitting on the edge of the pool, stumbled on a step and fell into water along with his microphone, making all of them laugh almost to death.

BBC Breakfast presenter Charlie Stayt said: 'If you're just joining us, Mike is carrying on talking but we can't hear him because a moment ago he fell in the water'.

Bushell, wearing something casual for a change, made a decision to adjust his position in order to get a good angle to speak with the entire team. "Bye, Mike, it hasn't been tiresome".

The athletes all had their feet in the pool and Mike happily joined in too, with his feet dunked right in the water.

The presenter later explained, "I just thought it was a little Jacuzzi or a kid's pool".
