Russians in Ukraine to be blocked from voting in presidential poll: Kiev

Russian citizens overseas will also have an opportunity to cast their ballots in the Russian presidential election Sunday, in 400 polling stations in 145 countries, including Israel, Abkhazia, Belarus, Germany, Greece, Spain and Uzbekistan.

The European Union has supported the territorial integrity of Ukraine, once again reminding Russian Federation of the illegality of the annexation of Crimea and violations of global law and human rights in the occupied peninsula.

Under the sanctions imposed by the European Union against the Russian Federation, it is forbidden to provide and use organised tourism services in the territory of the illegally annexed Crimea and it is forbidden to purchase real estate or companies, as well to carry out any kind of financial transactions in Crimea, it said, warning that "The violation of sanctions imposed by the European Union will be prosecuted under Section 84 of the Criminal Law of the Republic of Latvia".

"Challenging borders by force is contrary to global law, including commitments made by the Russian Federation", the French foreign ministry said in a statement.

The EU also condemned the militarization of the peninsula that continues to impact the security situation in the Black Sea region. Ukraine says the peninsula was annexed.

The EU High Representative also noted the deterioration of human rights and fundamental freedoms on the Crimean peninsula after its annexation by Russian Federation.

"The EU calls for full compliance with worldwide human rights standards in the peninsula", Mogherini said.

Chairman of Crimea's election commission Mikhail Malyshev earlier said that the global observers come from Austria, the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Spain, Italy, Lebanon, Pakistan, Malaysia, Serbia, Ukraine, Finland, France and Sweden.
