The Seahawks made the decision to move on from cornerback Richard Sherman on Friday. "This is just another chapter in the journey".

The releases of Sherman and Lane leave Seattle's cornerback spot with some uncertainty heading into free agency. "To the fans urging me to join your team, I am humbled but I can only look at the teams that have reached out". And while multiple reports have linked Sherman to the New England Patriots, there's a "real chance" the 29-year-old stays in the NFC West, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday, citing sources.

Sherman told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he has interest from many teams, including the Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers. He has said that he plans to be running at full speed some time next month and will be ready to play by training camp.

Sherman would be an ideal fit for Los Angeles' defense as he would be able to reunite with his former defensive coordinator, Gus Bradley, and provide yet another talented player in their secondary.

Sherman, a Stanford alum who will turn 30 on March, is recovering from a torn right Achilles tendon he sustained in November, an injury that caused him to miss games for the first time in his seven-year career.

The Seahawks on Wednesday traded Michael Bennett to the Eagles and are also expected to soon release defensive end Cliff Avril, who may not be able to play football again after suffering a neck/nerve injury in October that required surgery. His 32 interceptions in that span are first among National Football League players, as are his 99 passes defended, according to the NFL.
