Oscars 2018: Man arrested for theft of Frances McDormand's Oscar

Frances Mc Dormand had"some things to say
The Fargo actress gave a memorable, empowering speech after winning the prestigious honour for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and took her new Oscar statuette to the nearby Governors Ball after the show to get her name engraved on it.
You might have noticed Frances McDormand's laissez-faire approach to handling Oscar last night, particularly when she plopped the trophy onto the stage to deliver her rousing speech (which instantly became the ceremony's highlight).
McDormand reportedly told the media backstage that she had learnt of the phrase just a week ago.
- Whitney Cummings (@WhitneyCummings) March 5, 2018For the non-film contract fluent folks, Frances McDormand closed with "inclusion rider", likely meaning put diversity requirements in your contract about the other crew/artist positions throughout a film you attach yourself to. And so the fact that I just learned that after 35 years of being in the film business ... we're not going back.
"Across the top 100 films of just a year ago, 48 films didn't feature one black or African-American speaking character, not one", Smith said in the talk.
"I think the idea that activists are taking that kind of statement and putting it out there".
She said a typical inclusion rider would set bench marks for diversity in staffing. "Right? Power in rules".
After thanking everyone she wanted to thank with regard to her award for her film, she takes a moment to ask all the female nominees in every category to stand up, and they do so to raucous applause.
The idea of an inclusion rider, and that it can help change gender and race bias in Hollywood, goes back to at least 2016. "Look around, because we all have stories to tell, and we all have projects we need financed", she said. "OK, so I'm hyperventilating a little bit". The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences issued a statement in the wake of the incident, saying: "Best Actress victor Frances McDormand and her Oscar were happily reunited after a brief separation at last night's Governors Ball". Below we have both Frances McDormand's acceptance speech from ABC YouTube, and another video from VarietyYouTube featuring Frances McDormand's interview in the Oscar's press room, shortly after her big win.
