On Friday afternoon, Cleveland lit up the National Football League world by trading for anyone and everyone.

Two months after a winless season mercifully ended, new general manager John Dorsey addressed major roster needs Friday by acquiring mobile quarterback Tyrod Taylor in a deal with Buffalo, wide receiver Jarvis Landry from Miami and cornerback Damarious Randall from Green Bay, a person with direct knowledge of the overhaul told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The Browns will likely play Randall at his college position, free safety, instead of trying to convert him into a corner, as the Packers did for part of his tenure in Green Bay.

Saturday brought another trade for Cleveland that took fans by surprise.

Whoever the Browns choose to select to play, either Taylor or a top quarterback in the draft, is already in a better position than Chicago's Trubisky because of a player like Landry. To trade talent away from a position of need for a backup quarterback feels like phase one of a larger plan.

As ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Twitter Friday, a full five days before trades can become official and 2018 free agency begins, the Packers have informed Randall, who intercepted a career-high four passes in 2017, that he's been traded to Cleveland. Taylor isn't winning you any playoff games, but there are quarterbacks in this draft who will.

But what happened to Jackson's want for AJ McCarron to come to Cleveland? With just two winning seasons since the expansion franchise made its debut 1999, the Browns role as a free-agent outlier was solidified long before anyone in the current front office arrived in Cleveland.

-Nick Foles hears numerous swirling offseason trade rumors, but the Super Bowl LII Most Valuable Player prefers not to talk about them. He added to the defense by getting Randall, while also adding a bridge quarterback in Taylor and a big receiving threat in Landry. He reminds me a little bit of Russell Wilson, (who) throws an incredible deep ball, one of the best in the game.

Currently, they have at least Josh Gordon and Corey Coleman at wide receiver. The fact that Taylor has the potential to be a dual-threat quarterback adds to the mix as well.

However, cornerback should be high on their list in free agency and/or the draft. He gives Cleveland a legit quarterback with starting experience to tout to potential newcomers.

Who else is out there?

How this acquisition affects the draft gameplan is highly debatable. This means that the team will either move on from Brett Hundley or let him battle Kizer.

As Schefter also noted, the Browns could still have plenty of moves on the way.

What Thomas didn't say is that the moves will lead him to return for another season. Owner Jimmy Haslam vowed a change and winning when he took over ownership of the team.
