Congress expels Karnataka MLA's son and youth leader for 6 years for assaulting man
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Bengaluru District Youth Congress General Secretary Mohammed Haris Nalapad and ten others for allegedly beating up a person in a restaurant in Bengaluru's UB City. However, the police are yet to arrest Mohammed, who is said to be absconding.
But the BJP isn't in a mood to let go of the opportunity to attack the Congress government. He had returned to Bengaluru in December after completing MBA in Singapore. "Vidwath told him he was sitting so because his leg was fractured". The Congress leader got angry and asked Vidvat to apologise for stretching his leg out.
The assault reportedly began in a restaurant and continued at the hospital where the injured man was taken for treatment.
During the brawl, Reddy said Vidwat was assaulted and his head smashed with a liquor bottle. Interestingly Mohammed, who is accused of assault now, is a crusader against drugs and is known to interact with college students as part of his anti-drugs awareness campaign. Sources claimed that members of a prominent film family in the city were present at the hospital and had to convince Mohammed Nalapad to leave the facility. Currently, the police are recording Nalapad's statement in the police station. The police even accepted a complaint against Vidvat from Arun, Nalapad's accomplice who was later arrested on Sunday. Though the youth is brutally assaulted, the police have not booked attempt-to-murder case.
City Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar suspended Hadagalli for not registering the case against Nalapad earlier and failing to trace or nab him. Vijay Hadagali was the police inspector then of the jurisdiction Ashok Nagar police station.
Historian Ramachandra Guha, a resident of Bengaluru, shred this news on his Twitter handle, demanding strict action against Nalapad, which sparked an uproar on the social media.
Former CM and state BJP president BS Yeddyurappa tweeted, "I am appalled at & strongly condemn the ghastly attack by MLA NA Harris son on innocent Vidwath".
