Mega Man 11 Revealed During 30th Anniversary Livestream

Capcom announces Mega Man 11 and a host of re-releases

During a special 30th anniversary live stream, the publisher announced that it will release a Mega Man X Legacy Collection in summer 2018. The last mainline Mega Man game came out in 2009 and featured a retro aesthetic.

Mega Man 11 is due in "late" 2018, so it's still a while off.

Mega Man 11 will coincide with the franchise's 30th anniversary of the first Mega Man game released in 1987. The company announced that the Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will be available on Nintendo's latest platform along with support for new Amiibo figures. Yes, that's - inhale - Mega Man X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, and X8.

Capcom adds that Mega Man 11 will cater to both fans and newcomers to the series with the game keeping its signature challenge, but also offering multiple difficulty options.

While compilations like the Mega Man Legacy Collection offer a great trip down memory lane, they aren't modern experiences. It's a style that's likely to be divisive among fans, but you can form your own opinions by watching its announcement trailer above. Collection 1 covered Mega Man 1 through Mega Man 6 while Collection 2 covered Mega Man 7, Mega Man 8, Mega Man 9, and Mega Man 10.

If you simply can't wait for Mega Man 11, you'll have some other Mega Man games to play between now and then. There hasn't been a new title in the series since 2010 with the release of Mega Man 10. These games will now include a Rewind feature that will allow players to go back and correct past mistakes.
