This means any wet or slushy surfaces will freeze so we'll need to be mindful of slippery spots for travel later tonight into Friday morning.

Looking ahead to Friday, it will turn considerably warmer under mostly sunny skies.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus counties until 7am Thursday. Expect afternoon high temperatures in the lower to middle 30s. Chances for rain, sleet or snow are expected to continue through the afternoon. Highs: Upper 30s to low 40s.

Today (Wednesday): Cold and windy is the story today, despite mostly sunny skies through much of the day.

Tomorrow (Thursday): Temperatures moderate just a bit, with highs heading for the upper 30s to low 40s.

Thursday: Morning snow south, then clearing with sunshine and a few clouds, cold. But still it's another chilly day, with winds from the northwest gusting near 30 miles per hour, keeping wind chills mainly in the upper 20s to low 30s under partly sunny skies. We are still battling the cold and highs once again return to the mid and upper 20s.

By Friday night, rain showers move into the area with periods of gusty winds.

As we head towards the weekend, there will be a few more chances for snow. It's frigid, with overnight lows in the teens to lower 20s. However, a flurry or snow shower can't be completely ruled out, mainly across the Poconos. It increases clouds after some morning sun. You can thank the northwest flow of air from Canada for all these little weak systems as well as the below average temperatures.

Friday will also be blustery with variable cloudiness and highs in the 20s.
