Ed Sheeran responds to speculation that Taylor Swift's 'Dress' is about him
On Wednesday, Nielsen Music announced that the singer's sixth album, Reputation - which is not yet available on streaming services - has sold over one million copies just four days after its debut.
It is also the first album to sell a million copies in a week since Adele's 25 racked up 1.19 million sales in 2015.
"I'm freaking out. [I've] listened to Taylor Swift since second grade", one fan said, relaying the message to her friend over the phone.
Reputation was released on Friday, November 10, through Big Machine Records. She's already passed up Ed Sheeran, whose newest album, ÷, sold 919,000 copies, for the top-selling album in the U.S.
Reputation's incredible four-day figures mean that she is on course to improve upon the 1.29 million first week sales she achieved with 1989.
So basically, when it comes to burning up the Billboard album charts, Taylor Swift is mainly in competition with herself. Follow her on Instagram!
"I don't want you like a best friend/Only bought this dress so you could take it off", Swift purportedly sings on the track.
Besides retweeting photos of her fans with their Reputation gear, Swift also featured a positive tweet from country star Keith Urban, and responded with a bit of an "Old Taylor" enthusiastic tone-exclamation points abounding.
