The first charges have been filed in Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation, less than six months after the special counsel was appointed in the wake of James Comey's dismissal as F.B.I. director in May.
As of Saturday morning, it was unclear what exactly the charges were or who they'd been filed against as they were sealed under a federal judge's order. A person or people could be taken into custody as early as Monday, according to CNN and the Wall Street Journal. It's not clear who that charges are against.
He is also examining other possible crimes, including obstruction of justice, money-laundering and tax evasion.
Peter Carr, a spokesperson for Mueller, declined to comment Friday night.
Mueller's team has conducted extensive interviews with former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, former spokesperson Sean Spicer and other current and former White House officials.
Google had said it was not used in the alleged Russian campaign to steer the U.S. election but, according to Buzzfeed, its automated ad-targeting system lets advertisers direct ads to people using racist and anti-Semitic search terms.
Mueller and a team of investigators are probing potential coordination between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.
