Bad news, Liverpool fans.

However, we're not talking about where to catch some sun in the winter months, but rather about the fate of one particular footballer: Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool are braced for another battle with Barcelona over Philippe Coutinho after the Catalan club served notice of their intention to bid for the player in January.

"We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market or any player the technical staff request", Grau said.

"I will not say how much we offered, but they asked for €200m".

Liverpool were forced to email Barcelona over the summer to ask them to stop their public courtship of the player and reports in Thursday's papers claim the Reds have been angered once again by Barcelona's latest attempts to distract the player.

The Brazilian and his agents have, according to Mundo Deportivo, reached a personal agreement with Liverpool which allows Coutinho to leave for Barcelona, as soon as January 1st onward, as long as a reasonable offer is put forward.

Coutinho had his heart set on moving to Barca and handed in a transfer request on August 11; Liverpool, however, insisted they would not give him his wish and warned Barcelona to stay away.

Coutinho would be cup-tied for Champions League games should he move to Barca but that is not expected to affect the move. The midfielder missed Liverpool's opening matches of the new season due to a reported back injury, only to score for Brazil when he joined up with the Selecao for global duty.
