The United States has imposed sanctions on 26 people as part of its non-proliferation designations for North Korea and nine banks, including some with ties to China, the US Treasury Department's Office Of Foreign Assets Control Sanctions said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that North Korean is sending its military jets to the east of the country in the wake of a flyover by U.S. bombers of the area last week.

South Korea's Foreign Ministry's statement quoted by Yonhap News Agency came hours after the North's Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho accused U.S. President Donald Trump of declaring war with his Saturday tweet asserting that Pyongyang's regime "won't be around much longer".
