Minister of State for Skill Development Rajeev Pratap Rudy on Thursday night resigned from the Union Council of Ministers, while six others are believed to have offered to resign from their posts, ahead of much-spculated reshuffle shortly.
Several other resignations like those of Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti are in the pipeline.
Kalraj Mishra is likely to be offered a gubernatorial assignment, sources said.
Late in the evening, Shah was learnt to have driven down to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence, sources said. Sources also said the Union Agriculture Minister and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju may be shifted to different portfolios. He is well above 75 years-the age bar the party has informally set for ministers.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is already holding charge of the Defence Ministry after Manohar Parrikar resigned to become Goa Chief Minister. Reports say reshuffle may take place on September 2. Science minister Harsh Vardhan was allotted the environment ministry.
Talk of a reshuffle gained ground after the BJP last month chose its senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu as its vice-presidential candidate.
After meeting Shah earlier in the day, Jaitley suggested that he may not hold charge of the Defence Ministry for long. The portfolios he handled, Information & Broadcasting and Housing and Urban Development, were respectively given to Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Narendra Singh Tomar. Karnataka will go for assembly polls next year.
