Chelsea suffer fresh injury setback ahead of Arsenal showdown

Chelsea are third with 10 points. We are not in a transfer period and on the day we played Liverpool that affected us.

The 30-year-old then missed the first league game of the season against Burnley due to another ankle injury he had suffered prior to being sent off in the Community Shield against Arsenal last month.

After the 0-0 draw against Arsenal Conte said: "The last 20 minutes Hazard played very well". It appears the manager is eager to avoid rushing him back into the fray.

Meanwhile, Gary Cahill returned from PL suspension to replace Antonio Rudiger, while Cesc Fabregas earned a start ahead of Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Wenger's Chelsea counterpart Antonio Conte refused to make a direct comment about Luiz's sending off but queried how his side had the habit of never ending with a full complement of players against Arsenal.

Chelsea had earlier missed a one-on-one opportunity from Pedro, who was foiled by Petr Cech. Alexandre Lacazette was in the right place for the rebound but he could not keep his effort from sailing over the bar.

Luiz, up, until the 87th minute was Chelsea's star man, but under pressure from Alexis Sanchez, lost the ball and lunged out onto the shin of Sead Kolasniac. The latter managed to cause the visitors' defence some troubles by drawing fouls in the final third, and Hazard also managed to get a shot on goal but Cech caught his attempt.

Wenger, whose side were humiliated 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield during their previous away match in the Premier League, were far sharper and more committed in the sun at Stamford Bridge on Sunday lunchtime.

Luiz was shown a straight red card in the closing stages of the London derby by Michael Oliver having been adjudged to have jumped into a challenge on Arsenal full-back Saed Kolasinac. "Arsenal and Chelsea are both great teams and I think it is a good draw". The Blues face Nottingham Forest next in the League Cup at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
