Taylor Swift's defense team digs into former DJ in cross-examination to kick off trial
Mueller has been accused of sexually assaulting the singing superstar during a photo opportunity before a concert in 2013, and Swift claims that she is "certain" she was assaulted.
Mueller was sacked from his job at a country music station after Taylor's team told his boss that Mueller grabbed her buttock during a meet-and-greet before a 2013 Swift concert in Denver.
Arthur Lewis, also 32 and a real estate agent, said he's "a big supporter of Taylor Swift and just wanted to check it out".
Her lawyers have called the photo "damning" proof that Mueller groped her.
Taylor then countersued, stating in court documents that he had "intentionally reached under her skirt, and groped with his hand an intimate part of her body in an inappropriate manner, against her will, and without her permission".
Swift is being accused in court by the former 98.5 KYGO-FM DJ David Mueller, who is claiming that he did not intentionally mean to touch the artist. He said that the accusations were "humiliating", but conceded that he could not come up with "any reason, incentive or motive" as to why Swift would make up such a claim. After Swift came forward about the incident, Mueller was sacked from his job at the country music station, despite coming forward with his own version of events.
She alleges that Mueller slipped his hand under her dress and grabbed her bare bottom as they posed. Her suit also claims that any money recovered from the case will be donated to charitable organizations dedicated to protecting women from acts of sexual assault.
"That's the one and only story we have to tell you - that Mueller grabbed her rear end", he said.
Mueller's attorney Gabriel McFarland told the eight member jury it was a "he said, she said situation", and that Swift mistook her client for someone else.
As the trial continues to move forward-it was scheduled to last nine days and is expected to conclude on August 24-here's a rundown of everything that's gone on so far.
He also acknowledged, under his own attorney's questioning, the so-called mishaps that led to a nearly-2-hour audio tape of that meeting-which led to his firing the next day-being destroyed either accidentally or unknowingly after he sent an edited-down version of the tape to his lawyer months later. Swift, however, did not specifically request that Mueller be fired. He also asked Mueller for a reason why Swift would make up her story, to which the former DJ responded, "I can not".
She counter-sued him for a symbolic $1 dollar and an admission of sexual assault.
During testimony Wednesday at the civil trial, Swift attorney Douglas Baldridge repeatedly asked Mueller why his right hand is behind Swift in a pre-concert photo op.
Prospective jurors in a civil trial involving dueling lawsuits between Taylor Swift and an ex-Denver radio disc jockey are being asked whether they are fans of the singer-songwriter or the former host of a country music show.
