Ottawa placed under Tornado Watch

Strong storms with tornado risk for the US northeast

Also being watched closely is an area of rain and thunderstorms located near the Yucatan peninsula, the remains of former Tropical Storm Harvey.

Some of the stronger storms will create 40-plus miles per hour winds that could topple small trees and power lines.

There is a tornado watch until 9 p.m. for several counties on the northern edge of Pennsylvania, Eastern PA Weather Authority said. A flash flood emergency was issued for the Kansas City metro area where numerous water rescues and evacuations took place.

We are tracking a strong cold front diving into the region on Tuesday. Of course, severe thunderstorms without tornadoes may still impact your community with damaging wind and large hail.

Showers and storms could reach portions of the heavily-populated Interstate 95 Northeast corridor later Tuesday evening or overnight, but the risk for severe weather will be minimal as the storms weaken after sunset.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a tornado watch for Upstate New York. As much as 15 to 25 mm of rain are expected, and the forecast maximum temperature is 28 degrees Celsius with a humidex of 36.
