Four new characters announced for Dragon Ball FighterZ
Developed by Arc System Works, "Dragon Ball FighterZ" is a 2.5-dimension fighting game that is based on the famous anime franchise. This Story Mode will involve a revived Android 16 and warriors getting defeated by an unknown force.
Gamespot sourced bit of news from the Japanese Jump magazine revealing that Android 16 and Android 18, who were major parts of the Android and Cell sagas of the Dragon Ball Z series, are joining the roster.
The four characters join the existing roster of nine playable fighters that now equates to 13, although two of the four are duplicate characters.
While Goku and Vegeta have already been confirmed for the game previously, it seems as though the developers have allotted separate character slots for the ultra-powerful Super Saiyan Blue forms, and that is an understandable decision. Fans can only hope that he will make a playable appearance given his recognizable coolness and the significant ties he has to Android 18 outside of combo moves, but more the details of his inclusion have yet to be revealed.
As for Android 16, he was not present in Future Trunks' timeline, and he was Doctor Gero's first creation before 17 and 18. It is described as "a new story for Goku and friends depicted in high-end animation".
More nuggets on the online portion of the game were also divulged, with six players participating in three-versus-three matches.
The game is coming next year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, so there's not long to wait before we can try out these fighters. The closed beta runs from September 16 to 18.
