Powerball jackpot increases to $535 million

Powerball Jackpot Climbs to Eighth Highest Purse Ever

There were no winners in Saturday night's Powerball jackpot drawing.

The multistate lottery's grand prize grew to an estimated $535-M after none of the almost 65-M tickets sold matched the winning number for the $432-M prize in the prior drawing Wednesday.

The chance of picking all six winning numbers is about one in 292 million.

Powerball fever is in full-swing with the 5th largest jackpot in the history of the game going down Saturday night.

For the 19th straight time the drawing came up flat Wednesday.

If won, it would be the second-largest Powerball jackpot ever awarded.

The payoff, fueled by intense sales after no one matched the numbers in Saturday's drawing, rose by $115 million, lottery officials said. It is the first time since the jackpot run that produced the world-record jackpot of $1.586 billion in January 2016 that the jackpot has gone over $500 million.

The current jackpot is the fifth largest in Powerball history.

Powerball is played in 44 states, including Rhode Island and MA. Each Powerball play is $2. It is $1 million without Power Play. "I'm gonna buy 15 tickets".
