Andhra Pradesh Nandyal By election Result 2017
Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy had earlier claimed that Nandyal is his and now his dream has come true.
Telugu Desam Party has secured 97,106 votes; YSR Congress 69,710 votes while Congress had to settle with 1,153. Hence, in a bid to outdo each other, the TDP and the YSRCP went all out during the election campaign. Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy, of TDP, and Silpa Chandra Mohan Reddy of YSRCP are the main contenders.
Both the parties put up a bitter fight for the seat because the bypoll was considered a referendum on the Chandrababu Naidu government's performance in the state, besides a prelude to the assembly elections slated for April 2019. All this happened even after Jagan campaigning for 13 days in Nandhyal.
"This is a clear vote for Nara Chandrababu Naidu's development agenda and a big no for Jagan mark of politics", said K Achennaidu, a minister in Naidu's cabinet in Amaravati.
Summary: TDP cadres celebrated the party victory at Nandyal at the party office here with senior leader C M A Zaheer Ahmed cutting a cake. He was referring to objectionable remarks made against him by YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
