The former Baylor head coach, who was sacked in 2015 in the wake of a major sexual assault scandal within the Bears' program, has landed an assistant gig in the Canadian Football League.
Hamilton's head coach is June Jones, who was SMU's head coach from 2008-14 and was previously head coach of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, among numerous other coaching jobs. That report found the football program under Briles mishandled multiple allegations of sexual assault against football players.
Interestingly enough, the Tiger-Cats' release doesn't mention the terms under which Briles left Baylor. While we actively and eagerly support the Hamilton Tiger-Cats organization, Barry's Jewellers is not involved in the operations or decisions made by the team.
Two weeks after his lawyer said Art Briles was planning a return, the former Baylor coach has resurfaced in football - north of the border.
Briles' name has been brought up numerous times for coaching vacancies ever since he was sacked by Baylor. Baylor won back to back Big 12 Championships (2013-2014) marking only the second achievement in league history and first since the University of Oklahoma.
Hamilton (0-8) is the CFL's only winless team. ESPN has reported that Briles and his assistants "actively intervened" in school disciplinary measures against football players accused of a variety of offenses.
