Aladdin finds its lead actor in Jack Ryan actor, Will Smith to voice Genie
More than 2,000 actors and actresses were reportedly tested for the roles of Aladdin and Jasmine.
At the Live panel announcing the upcoming roster of Disney movies and remakes, the full main Aladdin trio was revealed. They join the now confirmed Will Smith as the genie.
Disney is hoping to start shooting Aladdin next month in the United Kingdom, but there's still got plenty of work to do before then. With such an ambitious project to tackle, Disney has brought on producer Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes) and executive producer Jonathan Eirich to work with director Guy Ritchie. Smith needs no introduction and has been rumored for the role made famous by the late Robin Williams for some time now.
