Georgia stabbings: 4 children, man found dead in home
A woman from Loganville, Georgia allegedly stabbed her four children and her husband to death sometime between Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Gwinnett County police said another child was taken to a hospital with injuries they describe as serious.
Police said in a statement they do not know if the man found with the children was the father, but they believe the family lived together at the house. Authorities say Martinez faces five counts of malice murder along with five counts of murder and six counts of aggravated assault.
"The last month, she was happy, she'd invite us over. she'd have barbecues every week", said Pedro Ramirez.
Police have not said whether she was injured and said a motive was not immediately known.
Cpl. Pihera said the suspect was taken to Gwinnett County Police headquarters, where she's being questioned.
Police called the crime "horrendous" and added that it's unclear what motivated the killings. The county sheriff's office said Martinez is being held for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement but didn't provide further details.
A spokeswoman said early indications are that a knife was used to attack the five.
The children killed in the incident all appear to be under the age of 10, according to the police.
The father was in his mid-30s.
Police found the bodies after responding to reports of a stabbing in Loganville. Officers were called to the scene on Emory Lane after a 911 call Thursday morning. The woman's father recently died. Adult male and several children deceased.
