The meeting will take place at the Thackeray residence, "Matoshri" in Bandra east on Sunday during the three-day visit of Shah to Mumbai to celebrate the BJP's three years in power at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shah had on Sunday met its sulking ally and Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackerey in Mumbai to ensure the Sena's crucial support.
Sena leaders said that with Shah's visit to Matoshree, Uddhav was likely to support an NDA candidate, provided the Sena is kept in the loop about the nomination.
The Sena MP said Thackeray may "answer many questions later this evening" when he will address the party workers on the Shiv Sena's 51st foundation day. According to the source, during the meeting Shah appealed to the Sena to support the BJP's nominee for the president's post.
Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts, the main Opposition parties continued to fume.
Expressing its concern over the renewed spate of terror in the Kashmir Valley and the violence in West Bengal's Darjeeling, the Sena said these heavenly places on earth are now passing through a bad spell, but "some people" are more eager about winning mid-term elections in Maharashtra. "But if it is for the development of the nation then we may support", he added.
Raote said farmers at the local level would not be able to raise money for sowing and other family activities until the cooperative banks get their old notes exchanged. Senior Congress leaders could meet under the chairmanship of Sonia Gandhi if BJP announces its candidature today.
In the Presidential polls of 2007 and 2012, the Sena deviated from the NDA to vote for the Congress nominees: Pratibha Patil and Pranab Mukherjee respectively. BJP has remained non-committal to the names though it has said it is open to discussions. "Bhagwat is the most appropriate choice for the Rashtrapati's office if India is to be turned into a Hindu Rashtra", he said.
