Unicorn Frappuccino Debuts At Starbucks
May 25 2017, 08:47 | Perry Erickson
My Facebook and Instagram feeds have been clogged with photos of an unnaturally colorful new Starbucks unicorn drink. It was sweet and then a little sour.
Apparently, the scene at Burson's place of work was overwhelming, with orders for the Unicorn Frap piling up one after the other from customers at the counter and drive-thru.
The Unicorn Frappuccino has sweet and sour pink and blue cream swirl, topped with what Starbucks calls "fairy powder".
It seems Starbucks looked to Charlie, the most famous Unicorn in pop culture, for inspiration on its latest Frappuccino.
They are not here for Unicorn Frappuccinos. The Unicorn Frappuccino will be available in participating Starbucks stores until Sunday, April 23. It barely tasted like anything more than flavored water, and I was struck by a thought: If you're going to sell something that looks like a rainbow, shouldn't it at least taste unique? And with 59 grams of sugar, the Unicorn Frappuccino packs as much of the sweet stuff as six Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts.
"I just had it with the sour (blue drizzle) and I have to admit that I like it".
"I'll try it, but I can already tell you I won't like it", he said before ordering the new beverage. What better way to rate the drink that's taken over the digital realm? Starbucks was my go-to for coffee, even more so in my later years of high school and college when I actually needed caffeine to get through my day.
Yuliana Soltero, 30, normally orders a plain iced coffee but made a decision to try the Unicorn Frappuccino on Thursday, because she saw the drink all over social media. Suddenly, all I could picture was that one kid in middle school who would peel back his eyelids and stick them to his face, just to freak everybody out.
