Trump to sign orders on oil drilling, national monuments

Carrizo Plain was declared a national monument in 2001 under the Antiquities Act a decision now under review by the Trump administration

Meyers also breaks down Trump's dream of a wall along the border of Mexico, paid for by Mexico.

He says, "You just don't see the United Nations, like, solving conflicts". Mulvaney says that Democratic negotiators on a massive spending bill need to agree to funding top priorities of President Donald Trump, such as a down payment on a border wall and hiring of additional immigration agents.

On Obama's health law, Priebus said he'd like to have a vote on the GOP repeal-and-replace bill in the House this coming week.

"I do change and I am flexible, and I'm proud of that flexibility", Trump said, shortly before authorizing air strikes against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad over what Washington says was a sarin attack on civilians.

That's a problem for Republicans because the Senate can not pass legislation that would add to long-term budget deficits without a 60-vote majority.

The White House appears to be backing away from its initial urgency - perhaps in recognition of the fact that the votes (still) aren't there for a health care overhaul. According to White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, Trump is "fulfilling his promises and doing it at breakneck speed".

As for accomplishments, Trump cited "tremendous success" on an undefined strategy for defeating the Islamic State group.

"I don't think there's anyone in this room that hasn't lodged a request to say, 'We're writing a story on the 100-day mark, we're doing this on the 100-day mark, ' and so, you know, we want to make sure that we answer your questions as truthfully as possible and as thoroughly and comprehensively", he said. In addition, 96% of Republicans who voted for Trump said they would do it again, so there was no buyer's remorse, as the poll put it. White House officials plan to unveil the broad principles of their tax plan Wednesday, though details of what would be in the release remained fluid Monday, another White House official said.

Trump's comments also clear up some of the speculation about whether Trump would sign a spending bill that does not allow construction of a wall in fiscal 2017.

For example, his two disputed travel ban executive orders are languishing, blocked by federal judges.

"No matter how much I accomplish during the ridiculous standard of the first 100 days, & it has been a lot (including [the Supreme Court nomination]), media will kill!"

The president said Friday he spent his first 100 days laying the "foundation" for progress later in his administration, including by building relationships with foreign leaders. That rally comes the same night as the White House correspondents' dinner, an annual gathering of politicians and the media in downtown Washington.

Trump remains strong among those most loyal supporters, polls show.

Trump is the first president to have an initial approval rating below 50% and has not enjoyed a traditional "honeymoon period" where Americans of both parties give a new leader a chance.

Saturday (April 29) will mark the end of President Donald Trump's first 100 days in the White House. On Apr. 23, a poll conducted by the Washington Post and ABC News showed Trump has a mere 42 percent approval rating, which the newspaper pointed out was "the lowest recorded at this stage of a presidency dating to Dwight Eisenhower".

Trump is greatly exaggerating here.
