'We're no longer friends', says Indian skipper

There were question marks over the Australian bowlers' ability to adapt to Indian conditions as they came into the series following nine recent Test losses in Asia. But India was pushed to the brink by the Aussies on home ground, which suggests Kohli and the Indian team will have their task cut out when they play overseas and team performance inevitably declines, going by past precedent.
The confrontations began with Steve Smith's "DRS Brain Fade" and the Indian captain's strong response to it.
Wherever there was controversial incidents in the first three Test matches, you were bound to see the 28-year-old in the middle of things. The Australian media labelled the India skipper as "classless" and childish on Wednesday after his provocative comments at the end of a hard-fought but incendiary four-Test series which the hosts eventually won 2-1.
Rahul finished with 51 not out and Rahane added an unbeaten 38 as India ensured there would be no drama when there might have been after Australia took two wickets in the seventh over of the day.
Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has also come out in defence of Kohli against Hodge's criticism.
Kohli injured his shoulder as he dived to save a boundary during the drawn third Test, and Australian Glenn Maxwell was accused of mocking him later in the match. "The credit goes to all of them, support staff's role is not highlighted much but their contribution is almost 40 per cent because they handle the players' mindset and their skills and work hard with them, giving them good feedback".
If someone makes a compilation of the words the Indian players used on the field while sledging or otherwise, the Central Board of Film Certification would hand out an adult-only certificate for the game.
Just as the Steve Smith was very keen to do well in a country which his predecessors marked down as the last frontier to conquer, Kohli was equally determined not to let them cross the line.
"He's (Virat Kohli) obviously quite passionate, but I just think he's frustrated because he hasn't scored a run and he's letting his emotions get the better of him". As I said (before), in the heat of the battle, you want to be competitive but I've been proven wrong. "You won't hear me say that ever again".
Each of these players have stepped up to the plate, and none more so than Rahane who led India to victory in Kohli's absence.
Rahane is said to have passed on the message to Kohli, who then completely rejected the idea. Smith also revealed that he invited the Indian players to share a beer with his team, but was rebuffed as the series ended in acrimony. I set myself really high standards.
"But now I can sit down and be proud of what the guys have been able to achieve since then".
"Starting from the West Indies series, we have had nearly 25 players playing for us".
However, that should not matter in the greater scheme of things.
India had entered the series against Australia needing to win at least one Test to retain possession of the prestigious mace, which it had reclaimed following the Indore Test against New Zealand in October 2016, ICC said in a statement.
