Microsoft Lumia 950 XL: The End Is Near

Nokia's Stephen Elop and Microsoft's Steve Ballmer shake hands

We learned the latest Windows 10 device count when Microsoft reported there are 300 million devices actively running its latest OS.

Microsoft reminded customers on its blog about the offer expiration, along with news it has surpassed 300 million Windows 10 users since launching a year ago.

We're just months away from the official release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, but we can already see the buzz around it. Microsoft has been testing extension support for the Edge Browser on the Insider channel for the past month now.

With the new Update for Windows 10, Edge browser could actually become more functional for the ones that are using Chrome or Firefox.

For anyone using the Current Branch release of Windows 10, the new capabilities aren't available.

This benefits Microsoft, regardless of how Windows 10 Pro customers react. Those companies often use Windows 10 Pro and generally lack tech departments that manage software deployments. The company is planning to introduce various changes for its users and interestingly, one of it is the company going to put an end to free upgrade for Windows 10.

Good news for users of the Edge browser on Microsoft!

In September 2015 there were 669,000 apps on the Windows Store, according toMicrosoft's own figures.

The company earlier had only three devices running on the Windows 10 OS - Lumia 550, Lumia 650 and Lumia 950. "In Windows 10 version 1511, these policies are applicable to users of the Enterprise and Education editions only".

As you can see the averages have fluctuated up and down between each set of momentum numbers as the operating system has reached 300 million active users. To switch from either of those without the option for extensions creates a much more limited browsing experience. While it was promised at launch that the extension would soon arrive, the product has now shown up in the Windows Store. But before you proceed with the upgrade, make sure your desktop or laptop meets the minimum requirements for Windows 10. And, today, we want to remind you that if you haven't taken advantage of the free upgrade offer, now is the time.
